How to add a title block to a drawing
A title block is the box along the edge of a drawing sheet that says what the drawing is, at what scale, when it was drawn and which revision it is. It is what makes a drawing look professional — and stops the wrong version being built from.
START DRAWING — FREEWhat goes in a title block
- Drawing title — e.g. "Ground floor plan".
- Job reference or notes — address, client, or "All dimensions in mm".
- Scale — and the paper size it is true at.
- Date.
- Revision — A, B, C as it changes.
- Drawn by — you or your company.
Add one in BenCAD
Open the print-ready sheet and tap TITLE BLOCK. Fill in the title, notes, date and revision. The scale and sheet size fill in themselves from your settings.
Revisions
Each time the drawing changes after you have sent it, bump the revision letter. Your sheet settings save with the drawing, so the next print keeps the same layout.
Questions
Do I need a title block?
For anything you send to a client, builder, fabricator or council, yes. It removes doubt about what the drawing is and which version it is.
